Trei despre filme

In the U.S., our content budget is about three times [Amazon’s], and we’ve got about three times more content. And what our customers tell us is they want Netflix to have more content, not to have two-thirds less at a lower price.
2.
WSJ: Will Netflix one day be available in every country?
Mr. Hastings: It’s something we certainly hope to do. It’s unclear in the long-term how it might work for us in China. But if you said almost everywhere other than China, I’d be pretty confident we’d be there in less than 10 years.

3.
The digital revolution has been tough on traditional channels, diminishing the bookstore, the department store, and the newspaper. Now that cultural content could go directly to the consumer, „disintermediation” was inevitable.
In the movie world, not so much. The bricks and mortar channel survived relatively intact. Yes, peer-to-peer piracy (The Pirate Bay) has had its effect. But if we wanted to watch, and actually pay for a movie in first release, we were obliged to see it in the movie house.

130,000 euro
Restul e cancan. Sau blabla.

20 septembrie '12It’s not clear from the research why the missing information disappeared, but it’s likely that in many cases blogs have simply shut down or moved, or news stories have been archived by providers who charge for access (something that many newspapers and other media outlets do to generate revenue). But as the Technology Review post points out, this kind of information can be extremely valuable in tracking how historical events developed, such as the Arab Spring revolutions — which the researchers note was the original impetus for their study, since they were trying to collect as much data as possible for the one-year anniversary of the uprisings.

Altfel, bafta Mosului, are nevoie + succes Ancai!
„Things are about to get a little less awesome”
14 septembrie '12Look at your smart phone or your tablet. Some of the best apps out there are free programs that bring down walls, connecting you to businesses and information that generally makes you life easier or more enjoyable, whether it’s finding transportation, ordering dinner, or naming a song. Many of these companies either have no business model, or have a business model so thin as to be practically imperceptible to its users. In some corners, this is a mockable fact, but rather than mock it, you should stop and appreciate how amazing this is: Some of the smartest and most creative entrepreneurs and developers of our generation are dedicated to making awesome stuff for you, and, bankrolled by deep-pocketed venture capitalists, their determining business metric was not „How will you make money from credit cards and marketing departments?” but rather: How many millions of people are you delighting with your exceptionally cheap product? It is hard to imagine an industry built on a more satisfying premise for customers.
If we’re graduating from the „making delightful and cheap things” stage of the social media age to the „making money” stage, make no mistake: Things will get less delightful. In order to be profitable, it is highly likely that Twitter can only get more annoying, Pandora can only get more interrupt-y, Tumblr can only get more cluttered, Facebook can only get more devious, and the app baubles on your iPhone can only get more expensive.
The first few years of the social media revolution have been a golden age of tech utilitarianism, where maximizing users’ delight was considered, quite literally, the only currency that mattered. In Part II of the revolution, the desired currency is poised to change from attention to profit. That’s a shame. It doesn’t mean that the programs you love are anywhere close to coming to an end. It just means that things are about to get a little less awesome.
Why the Social Media Revolution Is About to Get a Little Less Awesome
